Initial analysis

On initial analysis it is not wise to single out just a few hormones and use them to derive therapeutic consequences, for almost all clinical symptoms may be caused by the most varied of hormone disorders. Assumptions do not help here, only systematic testing in as comprehensive a way as possible.
A good example is effluvium in women: the cause may be dysthyreosis, absolute or relative oestrogen deficiency, hyperandrogenaemia (including elevated DHT) or an iron or micronutrient deficiency.
If costs are a determinant upon initial analysis, certain parameters should be specifically removed from the basic programme, if justifiable.

Treatment schedule

Depending on the treatment, the relevant target parameters should first be monitored after 3 to 4 weeks, and every 6 to 12 weeks after dose adjustment.
We keep blood samples for up to 5 weeks to enable follow-up tests, as necessary, without having to take more blood.
